Yes there are a few around. I am in Denton (Lake Dallas) and I have one other friend up here who flies. You might also check on the local kite club JOTS Jewels of the Sky. They have a fun fly every one or two weeks. Good places to fly around here are at the Lake Dallas Airport ( on the strip) although the owner does not approve during the week it is very desolate. Also North of denton the winds are usually a good bit stronger, but I have yet to find a really good spot. Usually I will go to North Lake park if I am in Denton. Another place I want to try is in Coppell where the windmills are located. I figure they put them where they did for a reason.
