Hello Brian, My wife and I ( Monica ) lived in Des Moines for many years. We would come to Ocean Shores to fly almost every weekend. Finally, we just moved here. The closest place I know of for buggies is Washaway Beach in Westport. This is about 2.5 hours from you at a leisurely speed. There's a fairly good size group that gathers there, I'm sure you also hear from them once they see this post.

Good luck, and check out the Des Moines baseball park and the beach down by the Marina for fellow kite fliers from the area.

Hi Bri, Jim is right again! The only legal public spot for buggying is at Washaway beach. I'm hoping someone might find a private spot big enough. An old airfield, school yard, someone's pasture. (I got a buggy for my birthday!) If you hear of one let me know... and if I hear of one I'll let you know! Best Breezes! (or for buggy's 12-20)

Hi Brian,

I live down in Tacoma, and often you can find a buggy pilot or two at Ft. Steilacoom Park. If you need directions, I can supply. They do charge $1.50 for parking during the summer, and the winds are not the greatest, but you have alot of room once soccer season ends.

Hey Penny, So are you going to stack up a bunch of revs for your traction I was flying my jo jo 3500 down there at LB on saturday and it was stretching my 200lb lines like crazy so I never got to actually buggy with it but it sure pulls a lot more than my quadrafoil, I'm still sore I see some of the people recommending Ft stillicom but for all the fun flys that we used to go to there in the old days I don't ever remember wind as being a participant, hehehehehehe. I'm thinking that the Wheyrhouser field in federal way next to I5 may be an OK place if they don't chase us off the grass. L8R, Bri, of Brian and Tami in case you didn't know
