I have a friend who is an archaeologist (or at least a part-time one), and has just returned from a dig, where he learnt the problems of producing site photographs: you either spend an enormous amount of money on getting a plane to fly over, or you balance a stepladder on the roof of the biggest van you have and hope that the steps don't fall off or through the roof while you are on them.

So, the idea of kite photography was mooted as a relative, but nobody in our group knows much about this, apart from the fact that it is possible.

So (and sorry for the explanatory rambling) I'd like to ask, do any of you either know of a good source of information on using kites for photography, or have any useful advice for someone wanting to try this out?

Thanks in advance,

[ ]

went to Peters kite site and on the www links page and found a bunch of KAP (Kite Aerial Photography) sites using the 'Find in Page' function of the browser.

I don't recall which one it is, but I can remember seeing some genuine archeological dig site KAP photos on one site. There's quite a bit of info on camera and kite rigging available in order to do it yourself. You may even be able to hire one of these people out to come and do it for you if you happen to pick the right set of incentives

Thanks for all the replies I've received on my query. I am now a bit more clued-up in general, and have plenty of resources to wade through...
