Kite Flyers of Gettysburg PA. HELP Kite Flyers of Gettysburg I need some help. My future wife and me will be in Gettysburg On vacation September 26-30. I would love to fly when I am in town and need to know the best place to fly in you town. Also is there local kite clubs in the area? The kites go every where we go .If any one can be of any help please get back with us.

Unfortunately, there are no real good places to fly in Gettysburg. The park police frown on flying kites on the battlefield. I've been 'spoken to' more than once. However, if you feel the need to do this, try the fields North of town, where the first days fighting took place. You also might try flying at the High School north of town, on Business Rt. 15. There is a small municipal park in town but it is surrounded by light posts and is in a depression.

Dress up in a Cival War uniform and tell the park putzes that your a artillary observer!
