The Beetle will come in right around $50 and is probably the best light wind kite in the price range. It's also indestructible which makes it GREAT for learning on.

I am new to this whole kite thing and I am wondering what is the best double line kite to buy for under 50 bucks. I suspect it will be used in low wind situations quite often. help me out here!

If you can, try before you buy.

The Session 1.1 was my first real sport kite, and I use to fly it every now and then bringing back old memories.

It amazes me everytime, what a nice kite! Pretty good flying characteristics both in the trick and the presicion department. It's not _the_ kite, but boy, have I leared a lot on it!

Here's some more... http://members.xoom.com/_XMCM/SAsKites/ Kiting_in_Norway/introduction/... s/session11.html

There's a new version out now called Session MKII (...or something) Haven't tried it, but according to a review in Kite Passion (hmmmm.... i miss it) it's even better.

Couldn't agree more!

Hi! I Just started kiting about a month ago. The first kite I bought was a Prism Flashback (about $120) It is a great kite but needs a bit of wind to fly After a few flights with it, (Instant addiction!), I became dissappointed when I couldn't fly it everyday (Wha'dya mean the wind doesn't blow everyday!) so..... I bought a Prism 3D (about $80). The 3D took a bit of getting used to after flying the Flashback...It's much more responsive....but it doesn't take much wind to fly. I take the outer stays out and adjust the towpoints when the wind is over 3mph, use my Flashback line, and it flys pretty well, So, for what it's worth from a newbie kiter, I would probably get a 3D first with a heavier/longer set of lines. Also, SPEND THE EXTRA BUCKS ON A GOOD KITE! My heavy handed flying has drilled both kites earthward several times with no breaks other than a couple of lost stays on the Flashback. (always check your kite after a crash, the parts are usually close by) Anyway, hope this info is helpful!

The 3d will fly better with lighter pro line i.e. 50#80' laser pro gold. the sport line has way too much drag for this kite. did you see the way the lines 'dragged' in the air? or sagged greatly? This in undisired. Also Notify prism of your flashback and get the New updated leading edges if you havent yet. They are way better. good luck. josh

the nice thing about heavier lines is it slows the kite a lot, which is great if you are flying in conditions too strong for the kite, or are just plain new to kiting.

We fly the Flashlight indoors (no wind). With a little practice you can to. Check out the indoor section of my website for some tips/instuction on zero wind flying. www.houseofphotography.com/kramer/kites.htm scroll down and click in the 'flying indoors' section.

Opps my mistake - though he said Flashlight. Yes the Flashback requires 4-5. Sorry for the confusion. To many Flashes
