Jim with no one ever hearing anything about it BUT your posts, I'm NOT startled. And on this side of the Atlantic kite flyers can't even get along.

Sad, isn't it............ But thanks for at least bothering to comment, Dave. > Guess I'll give it ''til November then trash the idea, unless of course, there's a sudden surge of interest - yeah right ;-(>

On the good news front - Coventry Kite Fest was just on the TV! Only a couple of minutes, but what the hell - and one of the kites shown was mine - fame at last! Heh heh...............

All the best Jim C

Hi Jim,

Hang in there a mo. But you might get the odd call come the event! remember it's still festival fever as yet, wait and see what the day brings, see if anyone has taken it on board (Are you listening Dave? I know you'll make an entry.) and give you a responce. Your mail was in our Club Mag so WHKF want to go with it.

regards, Peter Dawson.

Not to mention the Thorpe Kite Fliers *and* the Suffolk Kite Fliers having their usual event at Rougham Airfield, Bury St. Edmunds...

Yes Aik, I'm sure there are many more OSOW events than the few I know about. But that is precisely my point - I want to know about them. Perhaps I haven't made my intentions clear enough?

I'm trying to collect details (flying site, contact name, organising body, contact email add and/or phone No) of all UK OSOW events planned for October. These will be published on the site so that people may find their nearest venue and event contact.

I then want to follow this up by collecting the totals of 'kites flown' and 'no of participants' for each venue - these will also be put on the site - so that people may see what was achieved. I'll then add them all up to produce a total for the UK - which will be sent to anyone that may want it (such as JPA in the states, Kite Society etc.) this will also be on the site for anyone else that wants it.

So, I need full details of all venues & contacts before October. I also need a commitment from venue organisers to collect and submit results promptly after the event. With the best will in the world - I can't do it without the information!

I've been pestering people by every means at my disposal (mail to every 'kite address' I can find, letters published in national and regional group newsletters, signs in the windows of my car at every event I've attended, handing out 'business cards' to people at events, I've even printed the url on the back of my shirt!) after all this - I've collected SIX EVENTS! ;-(>

You mentioned one venue - who is the contact? Email add? Phone No perhaps? Map reference? Height clearance?

Sorry to have gone on so long - but you see my problem? Many people agree with what I'm trying to do, but with a few notable exceptions that's as far as it gets.

more info, map reference? Well, its on page 28, f:5. Not real helpful, so try taking the A45 East from Bury St. Edmunds for about 3 miles and follow the AA signposts to Rougham Airfield. Height clearance is 1000ft, as usual - the airfield effectively shuts down for the day to allow unlimited kiting stuff. (and buggying :O))
