We just finished a really nice weekend here in Long Beach California for the Long Beach Sport Kite Classic. Great Winds, great people and great weather... Enough with that though, on to my question. I've heard this phrase a couple of times already. 'West Coast style of flying'. Being here in Southern California I see it all the time, I guess. My question is, what is the East Coast style of flying like? My daughter and I are relatively new to the pairs comp scene, so we haven't been out to any major events across the country. We are trying to develop some sense of what is out there in the competition scene, is it aggressive with sharp breaks and tricks, or real flowy with alot of smooth turns? Are there any commercial videos of any pairs events that are available, besides the Prism and Dodd's videos? Just trying to get some ideas for next season when my daughter and I move up in class to Masters Pairs and start to fly against the likes of Avispados, Papalotes, Zopilotes and the UK imports, Bi-Dance.

Thanks, Bob and Danielle Fermin Against the Wind http://www.againstthewind.kitelife.com

Hi Bob and Danielle

[SNIP]

How would you describe the 'West Coast style of flying'?

An inquiring mind is in an inquisitive mood.

*Dark Morose Classical Music suitable for a funeral procession *Very loud kites that would drown out a 747 running its engines at full throttle *Lots of Wacking meaning 'whipping the kite into a controlled frenzy' *Kites with weird, unpronounceable names *A style flown by some of the nicest, albeit Californicated, flyers you could ever meet!

hehehehehehehehe

Do you mean they don't use California Wasps, and North Shore Radicals on the east coast? ;^)

Yeah, my daughter's real trophy hungry when it comes to comps... Scary though. In a couple of years she'll be competing against me. I'm telling you, I'm so proud and at the same time dreading it when she'll be teasing me about beating me Individually.
