I have the skeleton of a Peter Powell kite

When I recently got the kite out of the cupboard where it had lain for a few years I found the that the plastic had totally disintegrated - to such an extent that it wasn't even possible to lay it out on the floor to draw a plan from it.

I would like to attempt to make a new sail for it from ripstop. Does anyone out there have plans that I could use?

I've already got that in my watch list! If past auctions of these kites are anything to go by, the price will go past what I want to pay to be able to copy the sail for the kite I have.

Be aware that I recently reintroduced the Peter Powell into this country as they where being made by the Caribean Kite Company who have now gone bust! I remade the entire header card from an original so it may not be a 14 + year old kite then again maybe it is. Joe

Hi

I'm the sell on ebay and i bought this kite from an old toy shop about 4 or 5 years ago.

I presumed then it was an origanal PP, as i had to go back two days later when the old lady had searched it out from the store room.

When where they introduced and where are the new ones made ?

Hey Stora Excellent to hear its an original!! The new pp had a ripstop frame and the bag had a white piping! unfortunatley the company who produced them have now gone bust and they are once again no longer available! Joe

Did you every get the design you were looking for. I have several ripstop powell diamonds from around '85.

The patent drawing can be found by searching for US patent 3945236 granted on May 4th 1976
