Dear All,

It is a sad indictment of human nature that a minority sport such as kite buggying / parakarting has managed to generate two opposed factions in such a small space of time.

I hope that people of both persuasions who enjoy traction kiting will retain a positive attitude towards the sport in general, to ensure that other people can experience the exhilaration of whatever you want to call 'it'.

I don't understand the history behind the two factions. All I see is two factions ... and when you are already a small group splitting into two it is unlikely to be a constructive move. But then I don't understand the history ... right?

Have faith...

*Very* early on, the PKA was started. They were appaulingly bad, and basicaly fell out with everyone in the UK kite establishment that they had anything to do with, including: - Flexifoil, who they shared an event with. - Mike Shaw, John Eaton and Ian Meredeth, noted early buggers who didn't fly Spider - Me. I did try, but failed. - The KSGB - The organiser of Weston-super-mud, who they shared an event with. - Peter Lynn tried to get on with them, but failed.

Noteably, the people they annoyed the most were the people who tried to engage with them.

There were probably only two solutions to this problem: - Fix the PKA from the inside. A very difficult task. Still ongoing. - Start a different organisation. The BBC. Get it right to start with.

As time goes on, the PKA continues to improve and I hope that the organisations will eventualy merge so that everyone gets the benefit of both.

Ian, You don't seem to understand, there is no problem with the 2 clubs, both get on and have recently organised joint events together. The thread which started between Andrew Beattie and myself was not a reflection of the current situatation, but merely Andrews and my own personal opinion based on experience's from 5 years previous. Combining the 2 clubs would be great but not necessarily the best idea. Helping each other is more likely to work and this is already happening and is working well.

Ian

I was in the mood to write a great long post about my views and findings (BBC 075 5 or 6 years and PKA 217 2 years) but the answer is join the PKA come to the events and find out for yourself.

Simply .. the BBC do not organise competitive racing events and the PKA do. They both cater for separate needs, if they did the same thing then it could be classed as fragmentation, as they do not they are complimentary. Its only a very small minority with a historical grievance that find problems that aren't there with the way things are.
