Ok...
I am looking to get into flying quad line foils. I have flown them a couple times and have now decided that I'd like to get one of my own. I only plan on doing some scudding (sp?)...just getting drug around and doing some jumps! also..maybe some traction sledding. anyway, my main concern was that most of these foils cost upward of $300. I've been told to check out the used kite sites, but most of them are people from the UK or the prices are near retail. Another problem is that I'm not sure what kite would be good for me. I weigh about 210lbs...I'm sure that is a factor...and we get a huge range of winds around where I live (eastern PA). So if anyone could suggest a type of kite to get...or where to find one at a good price...or even someone that is looking to sell their used foil...I would be very happy.
Thanks, axios

Unfortunately you are going to pay for a quadline power foil. If you are just looking to have some jumping dragging fun, look at either the C-quad or the Q2000 series. The C-quad is going to be more difficult to launch alone. With time you'll learn the tricks to it, but getting it off the ground after downing it can be very difficult. The Q2000s are great kites for what you are looking at doing. They are easy to manage, easy to fly, easy to relaunch when you crash them and not too expensive. Also look into the Jojo Instinct. If you ever plan on moving on to buggying, this will do you better there.
There is no one foil that lets you play in stronger winds or lighter winds. Each one has a distinct wind range and it usually isn't more than an 8-10 mph margin. The best you can do to increase that is having a few sets of lines, long lines for when you are at the bottom of the wind range and very short lines for when you're over the end. In Galveston Luk Stanek had a set of 20 foot lines and we were flying his instinct 4 meter when everyone else was flying 1.8 - 3 meter foils.
Be careful when saying you are going to Kite Jump in this group. This isn't a jumping friendly group, many here will jump on your back telling you the kiting equivalent of, 'You'll shoot your eye out!' : )

Is there anywhere I could find one of these kites at a lesser price? We are talking about the same thing when I say Jumping...right? ie...jumping from the ground and letting the kite give you some extra air? *shrug* heh. Both of those kites are made by the company Quadrifoil, yes? Thanks for the advice.

the Q series are made by quadrafoil, the C-quad is made by Peter Lynn and Active People (I think active people is involved, don't quote me) and the JoJo Instinct is made by... uhh... Jojo : ) (they also do Paragliders and what not in Europe)
yah, I'm talking about getting lifted off the ground by the kite : ) Although I don't normally kite jump, as in jumping and letting the kite give me some extra air, I prefer laying on my back and letting the kite launch me into the sky using my legs as a wedge!

If you wanted to go the used route you could always check the kite classifieds.

Yeah, I have been looking around the 'kite classifieds' but I can never find anything that is under $300 that isn't damaged or for high winds. Am I looking for something that I won't find? ...what would be a better alternative? and if I am going to shell out more money, what and where would give me the best deal..?

if you are looking for a low wind kite you are going to pay. There's no way around that. Lower wind power kites require more material (have to be bigger) and thus cost a lot more. I do all my power kite shopping at my local store since Jojo doesn't sell much over the net and regulates prices to keep internet gougers from hurting local business, so I'm not sure what stores have good prices on Power foils. Maybe someone else here can help you with that.
