Oh, for the days when r.k had more names of kites in the subject than fluff and Coms.

So if i want things to change I must be part of the solution. I'm looking for advice on a kite that came out this year, but now hear nothing about. All you guys that bought a SOA Vibe, tell me about it, please!! What do you compare it to? How is it on the tricks and the new tricks? What kite would you compare it to?

thanks!

Whoooops! Getting a bit to tired I guess. Somehow I missed that you were looking for info about the Vibe, not the Paradox. Sorry!

I was given a Vibe. I'm a relative newbie, and can't tell you about how it handles most tricks as I'm still learning them myself, and haven't flown any other trick kites

My experience with the Vibe is that to me, its has a very different feel, more than anything I have flown and it took quite a while to get used to it. But thats not a bad thing. Many kites today all fly about the same. The shape of the sail of the Vibe is about the same as any medium aspect kite, but the bridle makes it very touchy, and there is oversteer in it at the factory setting. The quality is very good as with all SOA kites, and the pattern, jamish, and very pleasing to the eye. The Vibe is not for everyone, but if you get a chance to try one please do. I gave away about 20 at the KTAI last year to shops, but they never caught on here in the US and I finally just sold my last one. I have not planned on carrying anymore because of the poor sales, pity. I think GOne with the Wind still has some. Personally I prefer the SOA Omega XS over the Vibe, to me it is more stable and recovers better, Flic Flacs faster and more dependable, Axels smoother, and takes a higher wind. But hey thats me.

Hope that helps

Hi Dodd

Have you ever flown a vented Omega XS? If so, what are your thoughts on the kite?

My local shop has had one in stock for a long, long time.

Regards

Hi James

I'm not Dodd, but I do own a vented Omega XS. Let me say this about the vented Omega XS: You need a lot of wind. I'm talking 20 mph minimum and probably up to 45+ mph maximum.

Don't know if its because of the screen placements or the number of screens on the sail, but this one needs a lot of wind.

YMMV.

Well, while I agree that it takes a lot of wind to fly this kite, 20 mph seems a little on the high side. I was flying mine on the Mall in Washington, DC this past weekend at 12mph. Still, that's a bit of wind just to get it to do some decent tricks.
