well, it's time to do something with this Prism Alien, I understand Prism wanting to cut costs on it, since it's just a toy, but jeesh, that bridle has to go, I'm ordering bridle line tomorrow, if anyone has done anything with the Alien bridle, lemme know what you've done and how it's gone, I'm interested!

the bridle on the alien right now is a standard 3 point. Maybe a tipfade bridle would giveit better backspins <g>

Let me know what you come up with. I don't look at the Alien to be an all out trick kite, more a 'niche' kite to fly when conditions warrant. I wonder if by complicating the bridle, you may miss out on some higher wind capability..... I tend to fly my gem till it shudders, then if I don't pack up, the Alien comes out. Unless I'm just in an Alien mood. or sometimes maybe a Hawaiian mood (gotta love fiberglass), or, or, or. Just reminded me, I need to get some GForce UL, my IQ is broken ;-(' and we hates to have broken IQ's.

Hi Jamey

I'm surprised that you've stooped so low to fly a Prism kite having been 'banned' from their forum!

ehhhh, the Alien isn't really a prism kite, it actually has a bit of soul, even if it is only a toy... besides, outside of thinking their kites are over-rated and over priced, and outside of thinking that they've hurt the industry more than they've helped it (and they've helped it quite a bit...) I don't have anything against Prism, just Ron Kramer : )

I find the Alien Dead easy to backspin as it is ... i dont think a 'tipfade' would be required

I like 3 point bridles ..

Jamey, I'm really interested to see just what you will come up with to improve the Aliens performance. Please post it at tipwraps so we all can see. I agree with Michael that it is a niche kite which is flown in certain conditions. In those conditions it performs quite well, better than anything else I've flown in 30 knots. I fly mine all the time, anytime its 20+. Yes , the Alien has soul (I say spirit), but so do all the other Prism designs (whether I personally like that spirit or not is another item), you need to give them a little time to find it. Be the kite!! You personnally may not like Ron but as a documented (as posted) backspin maniac you should maybe consider burying the hatchet and getting together and getting some lessons from him. You might get to fly the clear Alien! Last question, Do you have a Fanatic? Joe

Come on Jamey - stop the whining already. So you tried to use Prism's 'Support Message Forum' to dis their kites and got slapped for it. What did you expect? Each of us gets to choose the kites we fly. A lot of us think that Prism makes great kites. You don't have to agree but calling them 'toys' adds nothing to this forum.

Before you buy.

I do appreciate Jameys comments though.

When i review kites for kHiTe i always try to be positive - because i believe that there are very few 'bad' kites - just different fliers (with the darkside for example i have had comments like 'needs more oversteer' as well as 'needs less oversteer'.

However every so often we can get caught up into the hype of it all, whether we are flying Benson, Prism, PBSK, Mullin or Humble DOT, we can get too focussed on one make or design of kite, and fail to appreciate others. Jamey helps us snap out of that a bit.
