Hi Jerry, long time since we've heard from you. The sailright machine is functional for repairs to a sail on board a sailboat, very heavy duty for punching through several layers of canvas or the several layers of dacron at the corners of a sail. For kite making, it's not a very good choice, certainly much worse than your Pfaff 1222...

If you are thinking about replacing your 1222, you might try and find a mint condition 1171 like I did... A very smooth mechanical with electronics for needle up/down and bobbin sensor. The same mechanism is in the current 1540 model (without the electronics) If you still want to try a sailright, our St. Paul store used to have one, probably still do. If not, the Thompson Mini Walker is basically the same machine, and they should still have some of them, if not, I have one in St Cloud. Come on out for a visit sometime.. And bring your ripstop for test sewing (we don't carry that in our stores..
