Here's what appears to be a *complete* server... http://news.cis.dfn.de/index.html You set it up in your newsreader just like you did your ISP's news feed. Simple instuctions.

Here's the dealie...

My ISP, for example does NOT serve a complete listing of rec.kites' posts. Yours may not. (Compare them to Deja and RemaQ to check. You will freak out, man

AOL doesn't seem to serve a complete listing of rec.kites' posts, and, my Gawd, AOLers, that newsreader is the WORST

Speaking from brief experience, I think Earthlink.com does have a complete listing of rec.kites' posts.

Deja appears to be complete, but, IMHO, the look of the pages stinks.

Remarq (now using AltaVista's) appears to be complete AND is my favorite for quick loading (the AltaVista pages don't have all those adverts and crap, either, so they load even faster

So, there. The Puppet Kite Kid

I am on MindSpring (now Earthlink) and subscribed to this group to post a question about finding a kit kite. I ended up with over 2100 message headers for this group!

Yup. I think that is a complete list! Reading a list that isn't complete is like reading a book with some of the pages removed, and is *the* reason you see so many similar replies... Everyone ain't seeing the same posts Of course, then, you have the mail filters... and another set of *problems*. The new one I am trying (http://news.cis.dfn.de/index.html) has 11 replies in the 'Alternatives to Remarq newsreader' thread, as we speak, but of course, that can change, but if you are seeing below that number, you are not getting a complete list. In my ISP feed, there are only FOUR (4)... can you believe it? This is why I never use my ISP's newsfeed for reading.

Thanks! The Puppet Kite Kid
