This is a duplicate posting, but the first time I buried it in the thread of another email. I just read the thread on the DarKside but don't think I'll be picking that kite up as it doesn't seem to have made its way to America yet.

I have a Buena Vista Feather and a Prism 3D for those no/low wind days.

I am working on the backflips and lazy susans and can't seem to master those tricks with these kites. Can anyone make a recommendation for another UL which can perform the backflip and lazy susan and even a cascade or two on low and dirty wind days. I can't get the Feather to flip over and the 3D loses stability in a puff of wind (when it's on its back and rotating).

I am thinking about an Ozone but don't know if I just need to work more with the kites I have and be more patient or if I need to move into another kite which will flip over more easily yet remain stable. I don't consider myself a beginner and can perform these tricks - albeit not too consistently with my Fanatic on higher wind days. Any ideas or recommendations?

I have a Feather and can easily put it into a Fade, Back flip (Turtle) & Lazy Susan.

In fact the Feather will launch itself when it is laid on its back and if the winds pick up. I was out flying and the winds started to pick up and I decided to put the Feather away. I landed it and laid it on its back (belly facing up). As I walked to the kite, I noticed that it started to gently float in the air. It was pretty cool, I actually walked beside my own kite while it was in a turtle.

My only suggestion is that you keep flying and watching those videos.

If you really want another low wind kite, Peter Betancourt has the Vanishing Point (one is for sale at used section of GWTW) or you can try an UL Stiletto.

Hope that helps.

David

As both tricks require a large amount of inertia (which normally comes from heavier frames....) you'll struggle with ul's... youl get them, but youll just have to be a lot gentler...

I posted this reply in answer to your question in the other thread

Hi Bump_Dog

The 3D weighs next to nothing and drifts downwind in the slightest breeze. Unless you allow the lines to remain slack during a backflip or lazy susan (especially the lazy susan), the lines will come up taut and flip the kite back into normal flight. The 3D *can* be banged around the sky but responds better to a lighter touch, especially when learning a new trick (on that particular kite).

Do what you do with your Fanatic but more gently. Also, make sure that you let the nose rotate quite a long way beyond the horizontal before you tweak your line to initiate the lazy susan.
